In the first archaeological river search of this spot ever, they’ll be searching for lost Tudor relics from a gruesome 16th siege at Barnard Castle and secrets of this ancient borderland. In the 1500s, this was where North battled South in a grizzly attempt to overthrow Queen Elizabeth I and claim the throne for Mary, Queen of Scots."
