Malaysian Wildlife
"Malaysia's rainforest is one of the most biodiverse in the world and one of the last habitats for wild tigers. The wild elephants of the forest are drawn to cultivated land. Conflicts between humans and animals are inevitable. No one wants to share the habitat with dangerous animals. The Malaysian jungle is an ecosystem of great biodiversity. In the shelter of the forest wild elephants, tigers, tapirs, and a rich bird life can be found. But rapid deforestation is threatening the future of many species of wildlife. While willingness to protect the rainforest is growing as prosperity increases, nature and species protection conflicts with the need to improve living conditions for the rural population."

"In the land of ten thousand lakes, Leech Lake stands out, because it's the third largest lake located entirely within the state of Minnesota. Known as a destination for walleye, pike and muskie fishing, Leech Lake attracts fishermen from all over the Midwest... and that's where the trouble began. Fishermen from the Ohio River Basin brought rusty crawfish up to Leech Lake as bait... and when done fishing, they released them, inadvertently giving the rusty crayfish a new home. Now, the rustys are pushing out the native crayfish, and destroying the weed beds the muskie, pike and walleye depend on. Fishing guide Phil Bauerly sees the destruction daily. To combat the rustys, Phil regularly throws lakeside crayfish boils for family and friends... and Yia just received his invitation to join."

"Common carp are one of the most widely introduced species of fish in the world. However, most people in the U.S. won't eat them, referring to them as a "trash fish." Bowfisherman and fishing guide Curt Cich will tell you otherwise, as these fish are fun to bowhunt, have plenty of fresh meat and are delicious smoked. These fish are so plentiful, Curt runs a year-round full-time guiding service targeting only carp."

"In the crystal clear lakes of Northern Wisconsin lurks a peculiar creature... the Chinese Mystery Snail which gets its namesake from female snails giving birth to young, fully developed snails that suddenly and "mysteriously" appear. Utilized for its high protein, low fat content in China, the mystery snail is a food source believed to aid in treatment of digestive disease. Eager to explore this feral snail as a food source, Yia travels to Clear Lake to meet up with Wisconsin Fisheries Specialist Titus Seilheimer, who's seen first hand the explosion of these snails at his family's lakefront resort."

"Yia travels to Texas to hunt arguably the tastiest of all deer. Native to India, the Axis deer were introduced in Texas in 1932 as a prized game meat for ranchers. The Texas hill country turned out to be the perfect habitat for Axis deer, who quickly escaped their high fence ranches, establishing a healthy wild breeding population. Now with over 150,000 Axis deer roaming the hill country, these deer are competing with native white tail deer for resources. Local rancher Chris Hughes has a solution- a mobile harvesting trailer where he culls wild Axis deer from overpopulated farms. Chris will show Yia how harvesting this species has become a full-time business and delicious solution."

"The Razgrad Lions. A pride of inbred lions has been rescued from an illegal zoo in Razgrad, Bulgaria by animal welfare charity Four Paws. Two of the lions are newborn cubs Terez and Masoud. With no vet equipped to raise lions in Bulgaria, Marina with no prior experience, has taken on the courageous role of raising the cubs. A third adult lion, Ivan-Asen, having grown up in a tiny enclosure in the same illegal zoo is in a critical condition and will need expert care for the rest of his life. As the cubs grow its time for Marina to say goodbye to her baby boys and place them into FELIDA Big Cat Rescue Centre in the Netherlands, over 2000kms away. They will make the journey by road crossing borders into Romania, Hungry, Austria, Germany and finally the Netherlands. However, political tensions erupt when government Officials stall on the paperwork required to allow the lions to leave Bulgaria. Moving the national animal of Bulgaria across international borders is something powers high up are reluctant to allow. A protest forces the hand of the Minister of Environment to issue the TRACES document, but only for the cubs. Adult lion Ivan-Asen must stay. The convoy with the cubs races through Europe in winter through treacherous road conditions to ensure the cubs are in their transport vehicle for the shortest time possible."

Extreme Animal Transport EP-4
"Locked in a dark cell in an illegal zoo is an adult lion who became known as Ivan -Asen. A result of generations of inbreeding at Razgrad Zoo, Bulgaria, he’s in extremely bad condition, with skeletal deformations as a result of growing up with no room to move. He was rescued by animal welfare organization, Four Paws and has been rehabilitating in Sofia Zoo. It’s a temporary holding facility while Four Paws find a long-term sanctuary equipped to care for a lion in his condition as he will need specialized care and pain medication for the time that he lives. He’s about to make the journey to his forever home. After weeks of crate training the veterinarians who specialize in large animal transports Marc and Juno are relieved that Ivan- Asen doesn’t need to be tranquilized to be moved into the crate. He walks in willingly. After beginning a life in such hellish conditions, Ivan-Asen is on the road to recovery. The team first have to navigate the Balkan Mountain ranges in the middle of winter, it's a perilous journey with dangerous road conditions. Never having felt grass under his feet before, his first step into his new home is an emotion alone for the team who have been fighting for his rehabilitation. Finally, he can live in peace, under the care of the team at the FELIDA Big Cat Rescue Centre in the Netherlands."
